Q. WHAT ARE YOUR BELIEFS?

From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 496

1.        As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life.

2.        We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God.  We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God's image and likeness.

3.        We acknowledge God's forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal.  But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts.

4.        We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death. 

5.        We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter. 

6.        And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure.

Q. WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE COME TO THIS CHURCH?

Spiritual seekers reflecting the range of diversity found in Marietta and the East Cobb area enjoy fellowship here. They come from many walks of life, in all ages, colors and lifestyles. Even if you think you’re “different,” we welcome you — and hope you’ll stay and add to the richness of our church community.

Q. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO JOIN?

Before answering that, let’s be clear that becoming a member of this church is not a requirement. The joy of those who are members is working together to present the liberating ideas of Christian Science to all who are seeking a higher sense of their own spirituality. If and when you’re ready to help with this work, membership is an easy option. All that’s required is that you have a basic understanding of Christian Science and a desire to share it with the world. But again, you can continue to attend all our services for as long as you like without ever becoming a member.

Q. YOU MEAN I'M WELCOME EVEN IF I SMOKE, DRINK AND TAKE MEDICINE?

Sure! The whole point of our church is to bring spiritual inspiration and healing into the lives of everyone. Countless people who have attended church services and read Science and Health have found they eventually no longer feel compelled to smoke, drink excessively or engage in other addictive behaviors. Many also find their health improving without the use of drugs or conventional medical care. Each person is on their own path of spiritual progress and we invite you to “come as you are!”

Q. CAN I GET MARRIED IN YOUR CHURCH?

We are a lay church without ordained ministers empowered to perform the service. In addition, we’re really not set up to provide our facilities for those functions that are customarily done in churches, like weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc. However, if you have an activity you feel might work in our building, let’s discuss it and see what’s possible. We’re especially interested in partnering with other spiritually-oriented organizations to hold simple meetings, forums, lectures and other inspirational activities.
